How can a rave party be healthy?

Billed as a Wellness Retreat-meets-Day Rave, the $20 SunDay Rave takes inspiration from jazz to gently guide you into areas that truly go ‘beyond’ the more traditional festival format you’ll experience on Friday and Saturday.

Indulge in some feelgood activities designed to feed mind and body.

Kicking off with a mass yoga class and incorporating a sound healing session followed by an invitation to dance the afternoon away to big room floor-fillers, the SunDay Rave encompasses forms of intuitive exploration that nourish wellbeing, build resilience, and foster a sense of unity.

The spirit of jazz is connection, connection is wellbeing

The dance music culture that arose from 70s disco, through 80s electro and acid house to 90s super club bangers, superstar DJs and dance music meccas such as Ibiza, all has roots in jazz.

The spirit of jazz is all about creating and testing connections and watching ideas proliferate through that network - creativity driven by improvisation. Dance music producers, DJs and party organisers embraced that spirit to create events for music fans that uplift and ground us at once.

Through the power of music, movement and breath, practices like yoga, sound healing and dance open space for creativity to flourish and for individuals to experience connection, presence, and flow.

Memorial Hall like you’ve never heard it before

If you’ve ever danced with abandon in a nightclub setting, you may have noticed the sound comes from all around - you’re bathed in audio, rather than pounded by it from a single direction.

To fully immerse you in the music at Bellingen’s Memorial Hall, we’re building a bespoke surround sound system for the SunDay Rave.

Speaking about the design, our sound engineering wizard said, “with thoughtful speaker placement and by routing audio through a multi-channel mixer with signal processing, the system will deliver an immersive experience, enveloping the audience in sound from all directions”.

Find your flow

Join André Meyer’s yoga session at the Hall, 9.00am Sunday 17 August 2025

André Meyer, local DJ, wellness retreat host and teacher, will lead a morning yoga class designed to limber up your body and get you in the flow for the afternoon’s dancefloor workout.

“Yoga has been part of my life for years”, says André, “I’m so happy to share my practice and passion with those who are looking for better health, longetivity and wellbeing”.

The soundtrack for this session: a carefully curated and thoroughly road-tested mix of gentle world sounds and chants, by Phillage Sounds.

Be Hear Now

Phil Smart’s Ambient Sound Bath, from 11.00am, Sunday 17 August in the Main Hall

Experience the meditative and soul cleansing effects of sound bathing.

Journey deep into sound while enveloped in the warmth of a finely tuned sound system with veteran Sydney club DJ Phil Smart.

Using four digital turntables and FX, Phil creates a layered soundscape, making the most of our bespoke surround sound system to ensure you feel the frequencies as well as hear them.

A rave party you’ll actually remember

A rave party needn’t evoke visions of debauchery. And that’s precisely what the festival’s SunDay Rave will prove.

Dancing is one of the healthiest activities humans can do. Add in a mass yoga class, a 4 DJ-deck curated sound healing session, fuelled by freshly brewed cacao and nourishing treats, and you’ll be home in time for dinner, cherishing fond memories of this joyous communal experience.

Tickets for the SunDay Rave, 9am - 6pm Sunday 17 August are available for $20 or packaged with 3-day festival passes here.
